There’s always room for a little South Tyrolean tradition
Austrian freedom fighter Andreas Hofer, born in 1767 in nearby St. Leonhard, was proud of his country. Discover more about the history and traditions of this beautiful valley and visit the “Sandwirt” museum in Passeier. If you’re interested in culture, you’ll just love this insight into how the people here used to live and will be able to explore some truly idyllic locations, such as the Passeierer Schildhöfeweg or the mighty Middle Age Jaufenburg castle. If you fancy it, you can journey to an altitude of 2500m and visit Europe’s highest mine, the Schneeberg, Europe’s highest mine, where the tunnel tours and museum will take you back in time. You can even spend the night there.
